Safe Routes to School            SRTS Program    Safe Routes is a federal grant program intended to improve the ability of children in grades K-8 to walk and/or bike to school. Funds are available for infrastructure and non-infrastructure improvements, on a competitive basis.

Burdette Park/Union Township Bike Routes: 

Just southwest of Evansville lies beautiful Burdette Park. 32 miles of rural roads south of the Park are "signed" and dedicated for shared use with bicycles. There are two "trailheads" (at Burdette Park and Dogtown Tavern), the routes are highly visible, and many locals think these are the safest biking roads in Vanderburgh County. The Park trailhead is located just north of Graff Road, where you can connect to any of the four routes, and the park also has showers that cyclists can use. Dogtown Tavern sells food and beverages.  Click on this link for a map of the routes that you can print:
